Other pianos with dowels are like this:</DIV> <DIV><BR></DIV> <DIV>Pin goes through the pedal. Pin goes into the two dowels. The two dowels come out when you pull on the pedal. And, yes, they are bushed with felt. The squeaking is most likely caused by worn felt (pin rubbing on glue or bare wood).
