You sample a cut punching or veneer strip, new capstan position or new knuckle hanging, or whatever to determine what your new ratio is. Do that by displacement as I showed. I like the spreadsheet way and not having to sit around trying weights and taking measurements. Maybe I will do the calculations for the BW heavier than I want and then do the veneer.
