Based on the 45 seconds he takes to complete a single bushing in
this video I think the Spurlock system would be faster, at least
with a bit of practice. I haven't timed how long it takes me to
actually install the bushings, but it takes me about 5 hours for the
entire job which includes:<br>
<br>
removing the old bushings <br>
mortise-sizing the keys<br>
selecting the correct cloth and cutting it into strips <br>
installing the new bushings <br>
cleaning the keyframe <br>
lubricating & ironing the new bushings <br>
reinstalling the keys <br>
easing the bushings and balance holes. <br>
<br>
Of course, he's not using the gang-style key clamps which, IMO slows
things down considerably.<br>

<div>I just found a youtube video showing a combination of the
Spurlock method, while using the Buchmaster type tool, so there
is very little waste. The system looks very good and I think it
will save quite a bit of time.

arrived a few days ago. Based on having used the
spurlock system I think the BM will be faster. I am
going to try using Spurlock Cauls. Although I am a few
days away from doing the job I will let you know how it
goes. I also agree with cost of time vs. cost of
bushing material.
