Look at what needs to be done that will keep the piano playing in the short term. Pull the action, tighten the screws, maybe shape the hammers, and adjust lost motion after you get the action back in. You'll be surprised at how much that will do to the piano, and the customer will be happy that you got it to sound and play better. </div> <div> </div> <div>Regarding the M. It belongs to the club, The person renting the club isn't going to want to spend any money other than tuning it. So don't try to "spruce" it up, and expect to get paid. You need to make an appointment with the club owner, and talk to him/her about doing extra work on the piano. But don't hold you're breath. The owner has a piano in the club to attract clients, and charges them for the use of the piano. He's not going to be able to charge more if the piano is in better condition, playing wise or looks wise. So there is no incentive to make improvements to the piano. Be nice to the club owner and tell him/her that you would like to be the regular tuner for the club, and would appreciate it if he/she would recommend you to the clients renting the club. I think it should be more than just playable, it should perform correclty all around.  That's why I'm willing to get help with it for both that reason and incom e of coururse </FONT><br> <FONT size=3 face=Arial></FONT> <br> <FONT size=3 face=Arial>I also encountered a Steinway M today that was filthy and required work, a last minute tuning a call Friday night at around 9. lol This guy needed it tuned for a wedding to be held Tomorrow Sunday.  Anyway, I went to tune it, it was  club, the guy renting the hall paid for the tuning.
