This is what I like about being a piano tuner. You never know what you're going find. Most of the time they are run of the mil pianos. But once in a while you run across something really weird. That's when you find out if you've got the "chops" to be a piano technician.

Subject: [pianotech] Help: Looking for Background on a Piano Brand

Hi all,

I got a call from someone today who has a Charles Hayden (spelling?). I can't find it in the Piano Atlas. The owner thinks it may have been made in U.k> and might be early 1900s. It is an upright. Does anyone know anything about that brand? Is there anything odd with the action, or is it "normal"? Thanks!

Warmly,
