As Mark mentioned, the inclusion of this silliness just may get some folks (who DO like to be a bit silly) to participate in the convention. I'd say it's worth it. Belt tightening - whatever. The cost is totally insignificant and about as fiscally responsible as we can be short of doing nothing. I'd rather see the us do something (yes, even silly) to promote convention.
