I've seen techs snap up M's without *any* restoration for about the same price. And you can bet that a rebuilt, refinished M would be priced much, MUCH higher in a piano store. I'm thinking either the seller doesn't know the true value, or there's some issues with the piano that have not been divulged.

Terry "UniGeezer" Peterson
"Over 50, and not '2' Tired!"
www.unigeezer.com

To: pianotech@ptg.org
From: erwinspiano@aol.com
Date: Wed, 18 Apr 2012 22:50:42 -0400
Subject: Re: [pianotech] Steinway M on craigslist

SO it was re-whatevered as we say...20 years ago. Does this price seem low?

Assuming the (2012) refinishing is a quality job, and the rebuild that was done 20 years ago is still in good condition, this seems like a steal. Of course, the term "rebuild" is often used inaccurately, and I don't know whether this piano was "completely restored", but it might be worth a look.
