I like to make oversize punchings for trapwork between the lever arm and the mounting blocks. I clamp the felt of desired density and thickness between two pieces of wood and drill a hole the size of the pivot pin all the way through. This leaves a nice clean hole in the center. Then center my punch in that hole and punch it out in the chosen diameter Oversize punchings here make the lever arm more stable.
