You say the damper upstop rail has slipped, but that the dampers rise too far. If the damper upstop rail has slipped, the dampers would not rise at all. I believe what has happened is that the damper pedal has lifted all damper upstop rail too high. So there are two steps to solving the problem. </div> <div> </div> <div>First you need to adjust the travel of the damper pedal so that when you press a key with the damper pedal depressed, the dampers do not move. The adjustment is a capstan like screw between the the trap lever and the bottom of the keybed. </div> <div> </div> <div>Next, you need to adjust the upstop rail. The easiest way to adjust the upstop rail, is to press 4 or 5 black keys and clip a clothes pin on the damper heads, keeping them  raised up.
