<html> <head> <title></title> <style type="text/css"> body { font-family: Verdana; font-size: 10pt; font-weight: normal; color: black; background-color: white; } </style> </head> <body> <div>When I transport a console piano in a minivan, I do the following:</div> <div> </div> <div> - Fasten 2x4's across the back of the piano at the top and the bottom to serve as skids.  (I usually use deck screws, but when I moved my Steinway Sheraton I used lag bolts and utilized the existing holes in the back of the piano.)</div> <div> </div> <div>- Screw hard plastic furniture sliders (about 3 inches in diameter) to the 2x4's near the ends to protect the carpet in the vehicle, and to make the piano slide in and out much more easily.</div> <div> </div> <div>- use the existing seat-belts together with a racheting 2" cargo strap to keep the now easily-moved piano from sliding forward in the case of a sudden stop.</div> <div> </div> <div>- Stand the piano on end behind the van (on moving blankets, of course!), and tilt it in and out.  Two people can manage this easily.  The full weight of the piano never needs to be borne by those who are loading it.</div> <div> </div> <div>Floyd Gadd</div> <div>Now in Regina, SK</div> </body> </html>
