Anne, I was indeed struck while tuning the piano by its being a
terrific instrument. In point of fact it was hard to tune,
because, having a good scale, everything was audible and as it
hadn't been tuned for over a year, I had to work hard to get it to
sound nice. <br>
<br>
I gripped the leg to haul myself up after lubricating the pedals
and was surpriszed that the piano rooled very easily forward on
its century-old casters.<br>
<br>
The rear of the pedals, in their brackets, are enclosed in a neat
little box with a closing plate on top, and four holes in the
plate to apply lubrication!<br>
<br>
Becsteins are not all equally good, as I am sure we all find, but
this one is indeed super.<br>

have there a model that was designed by the English Arts and
Crafts furniture designer Walter Cave right at the turn of the
previous century. It was available in oak or mahogany.
Terrific instruments. They restore to compare with the best
uprights made today.<br>
