Tunelab97 is actually more complex from the usability standpoint. Understanding the display requires a good deal more theoretical understanding of the ladders of partials and how they are related in a tuning scheme. For her limited objective, the trial Pro version would be more friendly.<br>

I'm pretty sure the free version is full featured. After using it for 3 or 4<br>
tunings, it starts inserting a 2 minute pause about every 12th note and a<br>
screen pops up inviting you to consider what a fine program it is and why<br>
don't you purchase it. After 2 minutes, the screen goes away and you can use<br>
it to tune another octave.<br>

It is really a great piece of software for your friend to get started with<br>
for this reason. Full featured, free, and only a minor inconvenience for<br>
someone learning. While she is waiting the 2 minutes she can go back over<br>
her unisons.<br>

Hello all Tunelab users........ I have a friend who is considering learning<br>
piano technology. She wishes to start by doing some elementary practice on<br>
her piano. She wishes to use an electronic device simply to have a point of<br>
reference so that she doesn't screw up the tuning on her piano and to help<br>
her learn to make incremental pitch adjustments with her tuning lever.<br>

She downloaded the free version of Tunelab. I have never used any version of<br>
Tunelab, so I am having some difficulty helping her use the program. I found<br>
manuals for other versions of Tunelab, but none for the free version that<br>
she downloaded. Does the free version do the basic things - calculate a<br>
tuning, store a tuning, show cents deviation from some target pitch? Really,<br>
all she wants to do at this time is select a note - let's say A4 - and get a<br>
display that show her how many cents the string is off from 440 Hz. Can<br>
anyone help?<br>
