With action laying on its back, push on the damper felts with your finger one at a time, use a wippen spring regulating tool to bend the spring to reduce it. You might experiment with a few in different sections to make sure you are leaving enough tension to keep the dampers dampening. You can use a spring tension gage to try to keep it uniform, but with a little practice you can just do it by feel. <o:p></o:p> <o:p> </o:p> Check the regulation of the sustain pedal. With the pedal full on, the dampers should be lifted enough so that no additional lifting happens when the key is depressed. If the pedal does not produce this much lift, then as the key nears the bottom of the stroke the spoon will contact the damper lever and finish the job.
