distinguish poor regulation from note to note when I play especially differences in aftertouch and key dip.  Not bragging here just saying this because some people are very perceptive.  I once tuned for a pianist who at rehearsal told me the bass was sharp.  When I checked it, he was right.  By 15 cents.   I also installed a touch rail in a Steinway D.  One of the piano profs could sense the spring pushing the key back down when two others could not.  That problem was resolved with touchrails help by the way.  That too is a great product.  I'm sure there are lots of stories out there like these.</div><div><br></div><div>So my point is you never know what this pianist might perceive in the finger.  You must decide whether to gamble and not mention the possible touch outcome and have him be thrilled or vice-versa sense it and not be happy.  If he is concert level he is going to want to know how the playing/touch will be affected.  It wont with the mute rail off.</div><div><br></div><div>If the regulation is not spot on now then he may be thrilled.  As you well know just changing the let-off does not allow you to leave out everything else (key dip, drop, blow distance, after touch...)</div><div><br></div><div>I would suggest the mute rail first.  Try it and if he needs more than upgrade to the TFT strip with MIDI sound playback.   I think he will be the piano with a silent function  (late night practicing in an apartment building).   The rest of the stuff (recording, etc) is not that important.  I think he accepts that the sound will be different.  The perceptible change to the action is what I am worried about, though the action is not exactly optimized at the moment.  How big a change is it and does it impact the action when the this on a grand piano.  However I am familiar with MIDI and wonder whether there would be enough expression in the sound of a MIDI piano if your client is a very advanced pianist?  If they were informed that the sound problem from practicing at night would go away but the actual expressive sound from their playing might be lessened then I would say this product would work.  Note too they would have to have a TFT record strip as well as a mute rail installed which is included in this package and is virtually undetectable but good to let them know there might be a
