<DIV> Where the handle starts on the chisel, it is a cone shaped "socket" that a similarly shaped wooden handle is inserted into. It's a force fit, usually with a slit/wedge in the tip of the pointed handle. Look closely at the photo of my set an you'll see how/where the handle is. The chisel in the middle is NOT a Socket Chisel! It is a Tang Chisel. i.e. the chisel has a tang that installs into a handle, usually by driving it into a hole of the handle. Hope that helps.</DIV>
