By examining it, it looks funky in the middle.  Plus it will not hold the hook with the red felt in the correct positinon.  When I turn it to the correct position, the bracket just flips back so that the  hook is pointing in the wrong direction.  Would a new spring with less stretch in it hold it tighter and in place?  When I took out the spring, it felt flimsy or whimpy in the middle, like a weak slinky.  I don't recall seeing a guid pin on the right but do know exactly what you mean.  The problem I ran into was as I mention the hook with the felt in it that the rod slpis into wil lnot stay in the correct position leading me t o think that the spring is bad.
