As for moving pianos with the bolts in the
holes ....... yeah, they snag on lots of things including the
pockets on my jacket or vest. I can see where flesh could be torn and
shredded about as bad as the door jamb and it’s trim pieces. Flat head
screws could indeed be a force to be reckoned with in this
scenario.

I usually put them in my pockets. Some
movers find a place to hide them in the pads. One favorite spot of one
particular mover was down low, bass end of the keyboard, in the folds of moving
pads used to pad the skid. Another spot is on top, the treble end of the
piano where one would normally find the brand name of a 9 foot piano (proudly
shown to the audience) between the pad and the strap. There’s a cavity at
the far end of the piano, opposite end from the keyboard, where the rear leg
attaches that sometimes provides a safe place for them on some pianos. A
baggie in with the separately padded legs or pedal lyre?? The bench is
sometimes used however they usually get lost when they fall out.
