to feel guilty for even suggesting I might use that <span =

machine on a Japanese hand made chisel. <span

really
that good at sharpening by hand (though I can do an adequate job) his =
response
was &#8220;Well I don&#8217;t want to sound rude, but get =
better&#8221;.<span

style='mso-spacerun:yes'>&nbsp; </span><span =
class=SpellE>Afterall</span>, he
could have easily sold me the <span class=SpellE>Tormek</span> =
machine, I was
ready to plunk down some money&#8212;I hate sharpening.<span
style='mso-spacerun:yes'>&nbsp; </span>Admittedly, his approach to =
these tools
was somewhat <span class=SpellE><span class=GramE>zen</span></span> =
like.<span

hand made, they
have a spirit and a soul and such.<span =

machine was tantamount to torture and I thought I&#8217;d better rethink

buy it anyway but tell my Japanese chisels that I was only going to use =
it on

looking at a Tormek Sharpening system the other day at a Japanese<br>
Woodworker outlet and was advised by one of the sales people that =

should never use a sharpening device that hollow grinds the bevel on =

Japanese chisel because it reduces the support of the cutting edge =
on<br>
these laminated type chisels.&nbsp; I've always sharpened them by hand =
anyway<br>
but was unaware of this.&nbsp; Anyone else have any experience in this =
area.<br>
I much prefer the Japanese cutting tools for there hardness and the<br>
ability to get a good edge that stays sharp. <br>
