Many have no iron frame and some are dated in the late 1700s. There = is a thread about tuning Square Grands. Is there any difference between = a square piano and a square grand? If it is a genuine square piano it will have = whale bone damper springs, vellum hinges (instead of centres) and the damper = wires will be attached directly to the end of the key. It may (or = may not) have a pedal but may have hand selectors within the casework. The wrest pins = will be long, slender and wrought to a tapered flat to accept the oblong = holed 'T' hammer. These tuning pins could be either ranged along the = back (spine) or be in an ordered cluster on the treble end.
