<P>Use universal bass strings because you can replace a broken one immediately, thus avoiding an unneccesary call back. I can measure cut and trim a universal bass string in bout five minutes. Most supply houses including Schaff sell an begiinning set of universal strings and you can replace the ones you use. </P>

You'll get all the practice you need in replacing bass covered strings by simply putting on a set of proper bass strings!
