the
regulating screw with a soldering pencil. Remove the rail if possible =
and
practical. If the regulating screw is the eyelet type, place the heated =
tip of
the pencil in the eyelet. Apply a little "turning" pressure. As soon as =
it
moves, remove the soldering pencil and oscillate the screw a few times . =
Placing
the pencil on top of the screw will work, also, but you need to be more =
careful.
Reshape the soldering iron tip to fit the screw slot. Check for rotation =
often.
Too much heat will leave the screw permanently loose.

inspecting the action of an old Hallet & Davis baby grand. (The =

number seems to have been long ago obliterated but I'm guessing it's =

60-70 years old.) The piano was just "rebuilt" but the =

didn't bother to regulate the action. This action isn't a little out, =
it's
grossly out! Perhaps the reason it wasn't regulated is that most of =
the
regulating screws are binding so badly I think they would break, or =
worse -
strip the holes if they were turned any large amount. =

will.
But I would like to have more than one card up my sleeve before I =

job. Can anyone suggest other approaches? I thought of =
Liquid
