<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>String breakage is a rather frequent =
occurrence
in a baby grand piano that I service for a church. I have =
replaced
several strings in the treble section of the fairly new piano in =
the last

hard and
that the strings break while he is playing.</FONT></DIV>

string breakage in that piano?</FONT></DIV>

<DIV><FONT size=2>Yes, I would do all of the following: check =
hammer
filing, alignment of hammers to strings, strike point, but mainly =
voicing --
they're probably too hard. Either prick the string grooves with =
a
voicing needle or steam them. Or file the hammers first, =
then voice
down. Should be able to leave let-off at about 1/8", but if he's =
really a
pounder, increase it some. --David Nereson, RPT</FONT></DIV>
