an action
for a Chickering, Parallel Strung, 8 footer, 1860's. The piano has a Del =
Fandrich soundboard, my scale, highly modified back action, =
(Clemson/Garrett).
I'm using, mostly, Renner parts.</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>I'd like to know some average specs. If =
any of
y'all can help, I'd appreciate it. Years ago, I did a few Clemson =
Actions and
there were some set specs that were available, but I've lost that info =
somewhere
in my "archives"!<G> Need to know the following: 1. Hammer Flange =
Center
Pin to Hammer Moulding center. 2. How to calculate what Hammer Bore =
Needed
w/string height given and basic Action height given. (I have seen =
several
"methods" for calculating this and each has it's reasons and one doesn't =
work
for the other, so to speak.) 3. Typical Action "spread" for renner =
actions, (I'm using the new adjustable "butterfly" spring type wippen =
and
Standard Renner Shanks, Rails, Brackets, etc..)</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>Because this is a Chickering, the =
fitting is really
close and unforgiving!</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>At the moment, I'm making "Action =
models" for
the bass and the treble ends, so that I can play with the configurations =
a
bit.</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>Oh, BTW, I had a new Key Set made, =
(with modified
Original key frame), by Rick Wheeler, Roseland Piano. He gave me =
most of,
what he calculated to be "useable" on this piano, but some of it just =
isn't
working to my satisfaction. Any/All ideas will be greatly
appreciated!</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>BTW, you may have noticed I used the =
term "Parallel
Strung", as opposed to "Straight Strung" The reason for that is, I'm =
finding
NOTHING is STRAIGHT on this piano!<G> Yikes!<G></FONT></DIV>
