<DIV>Hello list:</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>Since I've spent most of my time learning tuning and regulation =
and all
the things that go with that, I havent spent much time studying the =
actual
physical case construction of an upright piano, so here goes a =
possible stupid
question:</DIV>
<DIV>The upright I recently saw had the right side almost completely
delaminated from the piano. I mean from the pin block to the =
back, and
almost all the way down to the floor.</DIV>
<DIV>1. Does this structurally impact the sound board?</DIV>
<DIV>2. Can this be easily fixed by re-gluing and clamping</DIV>
<DIV>3. Is there other ramifications to re-gluing that I just =
dont see
or understand?</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>I sure appreciate your comments</DIV>
<DIV>Thanks</DIV>
<DIV>Dave</DIV>

<DIV><FONT face=Arial> Dave,</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial> The soundboard -back =
assembly is
independant from the side panel.</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial> Glue and clamp with =
basic
woodworking techniques.</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial> On a beater with no =
cosmetic issues
in play ,I have added screws through the side panel into the back
assembly.</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial> The Winter spinets of the =
40's -50's
have this tendency.</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial> One clue will be lots of =
lost motion
on one side of the action or the opposite with hammers off the rest =
rail .
Also dampers not lifting correctly with the timing all over the
place.</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial> Reason being the keybed =
attached to
the side changing in relation to the strings-back.</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial>With the side -keybed correct, the action =
should be back
within reasonable regulation (If it was before !)</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial> Good luck,</FONT></DIV>
