I agree that the Wurzen felt the Crescendo punchings are made of could
be ideal for key end felt. It is firm, yet resilient enough to avoid a
slapping noise when the key end meets the damper underlever. I am in
negotiations with Wurzen to see if I can get it. I have been told they
can make me whatever I want, as far as thickness, density, and
resilience, etc. goes. The problem lies in knowing exactly what we as
piano technicians need (and conveying it to the factory in terms they
understand, which I am trying to learn) and a sticky little issue known
as the minimum order size. But stay tuned, I am optimistic I will have
some good news to report soon...<br>

prefer the fairly hard stuff, unwoven, that S&S has used through
the years. On some pianos that have had a somewhat firm version of Butt
Felt, I've found that using the much harder S&S type, tends to be a
bit noisy.</font></font></div>
