<P>Just out of curiousity.... what would you say the acoustical effect =
of
coating your whole soundboard (violin) with epoxy first ? <BR>

<P>Since a violin soundboard varies from 2.5 mm to 3.5 mm a =
coating of
epoxy would create a laminated object that is 30% (?)
epoxy. Experience with plywood cellos show that laminated =
boards
don't sound as good. Spruce is the material of choice for =
hundreds of
years because of it's density and stiffness. Changing these =
parameters
by modification or substitution of material is usually counter =
productive.
