I got
involved with a GC set of bass strings about 2 years ago. There =
were many
strings in the set that were buzzing (I found out later that this =
happened as a
result of a new string winder not quite on his technique). I =
called Danny
to inquire about the problem. The response I got was, to only =
slightly
paraphrase, </FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial>"What the (expletive deleted) do you want me to =
do about
it." Well in fact I wanted him to replace the defective =
ones. He was
not only uninterested in doing that but was uninterested in doing any =
business
with me at all and made that abundantly clear. In fact, since then =
I have
heard of a few disparaging remarks thrown my way because of that phone
call. I agree that his strings are good, but they aren't =
so good that
one should have to grovel to give him money for them. There are =
many
string makers out there doing a terrific job and who also believe that =
customer
service is part of their product. I use Sanderson and =
Mapes
strings (more recently Sanderson) and when I have encountered a problem =
with a
string, which does occasionally happen, they have responded like =
professionals
and replaced the strings without question. Sanderson, in fact, =
sent me a
replacement string overnight mail. No charge. Sanderson's =
strings
are a little more expensive, but not that much more in the whole scheme =
of
things. At any rate, I am willing to pay for service. I =
wouldn't pay
GC a plug nickel.</FONT></DIV>

Danny
many years and if you ask an intelligent question you get the same =
kind of
response. I think most technicians create there own pain when they =
fail to

pattern of bass strings<BR>to send to GC. He wants to know if =
it's OK to
take it over the dampers?<BR>The question is will this be OK with =
GC? Of
course he will write this info<BR>on the pattern...apparently GC is a =
pain to
deal with and he is concerned<BR>about asking another question. =
