Any piano is only as good as it's preperation. Renner and Steinway hammers both need lots of work to reach their full potential. I have been equally underwhelmed by S$S (oops, freudian typo..), Böse, and Masons and others that sat on showroom floors although all could have been great instruments with a lot of work on the hammers and action. You might like the New York B better if you sent the action to someone like David Stanwood who could make it play the way it should and then had it properly regulated, filed hammers, voiced, etc. That clunker might just be a jewel. BUT, you need to go into the purchase knowing that you will need to spend a considerable amount over the purchase price to get exactly what you want.
