<pre>I received an interesting phone call from Micro$haft yesterday.
I had signed up to get "The truth about Windows and Linux", including it's
free copy of Server 2003, and they called to survey me.
I told them that we were looking at replacing/updating our file server,
(perhaps Win, perhaps Lin) and also adding a web server that would almost
certainly be Linux.
She asked about desktops, and I told her that because of industry specific
apps that only run on Windoze, they're safe there.
When we talked about the servers, and why I might want Linux, I explained
that we don't want to replace hardware every time we upgrade the OS, plus
there are issues of stability and security. SHE AGREED!!!
I asked if she was a MS employee, or a contract marketing rep, and she's
strait from MS!
We also discussed the lack of value in certain MS upgrades, esp. MS
Office. Again she agreed!!!
If they can't convince their own employees, how can they convince the
general IT worker?
