That is, the time required past the escape of solvents, for the resins to achieve maximum hardness and be ready for rubbing. Of course, atmospheric conditions being equal. I need to know because I tried some shellac reinforcing on a set of hammers an hour away a week ago. I plan to return in the next few days, but would like to anticipate any mischief the shellac may have done, changing slowly over the week. It was a five-hour session, so I was able to observe and base my work on the setting-up of the earliest applications of the day.
