They, Pianotech, are really
up-to-date and from there I have gleaned a lot of very useful
information and
been astounded by their expertise in the rebuilding, tuning, repairing
etc. of
pianos. It is not just our “cousins” who are contributing to the
List, for contributions are pouring in from all over the world.
Everybody is
exchanging views, ideas, techniques and new tool availability and old
tool
methods – just as one would expect from such a list.

style="font-size: 10pt; font-family: Arial; color: navy;">I am glad
the PTA is alive and kicking
but in all the years I have been in the profession there has been no
incentive
for me to participate in their “doings”. There used to be a show up
in the Kingsway Hall where piano manufacturers would show their wares
and
people like F&N and Heckschers would have a stand. I used to enjoy
that!
Now, of course, we have no manufacturers in this country – or does one
consider “Pinkhams” a manufacturer? Since the closure of
HerrburgerBrooks it has all been down hill in the <st1:country-region

the guys
on the List quite interesting and invigorating.

That sort of thing is still going on! The Kemble
factory is still turning out Kembles and Herrburger Brooks changed
their name to Langer and is still in Nottingham. What sort of
incentives do you need? Look again at the PTA and you'll discover there
are lots of reasons to take the test and join.
