"Tyrants"? That's what is scary, this level of explosive
rhetoric. Anyone who has ever lived outside of the United States
can tell you how relatively insignificant the differences between one
American party's views and another's really are. To see real
tyranny, you really have to travel. The US is still proudly a place
where that sort of thing is in serious remission, however inflammatory we
want our rhetoric to become during an election year.

Regardless of our party affiliations, here are a few facts:

Regardless of Republican rhetoric, the presidential election has not yet
finished its initial vote count, let alone "recount after
recount". This election is so close, every vote counts, and
every vote has not yet been counted.

Regardless of Democratic rhetoric, it is statistically likely that George
Bush will win the election, at least in the constitutionally mandated
electoral vote. This does not mean, however, that victory in an
American presidential election is decided by an Associated Press
poll. No matter what either party rants and raves in the press, the
outcome is decided first by all states certifying their results, and then
by a vote of the duly elected electors. Until that happens, asking
either candidate to concede is absurd.

Regardless of how scary the situation may seem right now, we are only a
few days after the election, and the country has had to, many times in
the past, wait significantly longer to complete a fair vote count and
declare a winner. We have also survived several disputes over both
counting and voting practices. None of this is really new, no
matter what the media says.

Best thing to do, hard as it may be, is to forget about it and go back to
work. In a few days, or weeks, the vote counters will all be done,
and the outcome will be known. We'll get a new republicrat for
president, and life will go on, much as it always does.

Best Regards,
