from the belly
rail or rim on a 45 degree or so angle and go through the brace into the =
rail/rim. I like to use red oak dowels (hard/strong and very porous for =
epoxy)
and I drill the hole oversize and epoxy in place. Below is a picture of =
a brace
I installed. You can see two dowels in the top - one through the brace =
and into
the rail and the other through the belly rail and into the =
