I give discounts to schools, especially where I'm tuning groups of pianos. I give discounts to teachers if they give me referrals. In the long run, it pays off. The kids who play these pianos will enjoy practicing more if the pianos sound good and work well. They are potential customers for myself or someone else who is in this biz. Music is a good thing! Helping the world be a more harmonious place is a worthy goal!
Rarely. Although I often do a bit extra or discount little old ladies or moms with kids who obviously have less $$ than me. I have a $50 minimum service call fee. If I go to a low-income type home and condemn a piano, I do not charge - just don't have the heart for that!
> Does anyone give discounts to professional musicians? I'm not talking
> about top names who make gobs of money. I was thinking more of struggling
> artists who try to make their living playing the piano.
