<HTML>Hiya: Just a thought. My experience and others has been that kinks cause amplitude= pulses which may be mistaken for false (real) beating. False (real) beating= is caused by induced variation in length, mass, or tension in a single stri= ng (e.g. a loose bridge pin, or a double termination at the bridge or capo a= s the result of several types of material deterioration). As the string stre= tches, these amplitude pulses may diminish, but real (false) beats may arise= from faulty terminations during the process and should be corrected accordi= ngly.
