Can rusty strings be cleaned and if so how does one prevent rust from re-accumulating? We should not oil unwound strings ......should we? How can rust be cleaned from the inside area of the wire coil and at each pressure point? <BR>

Because there is no way to remove rust from inside the coils, and from under the pressure points, the only way to solve this problem is to restring the piano. Any other kind of "fix" will not remove the rust, and eventually all the strings will pop.<BR>
