<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>First of all: Epoxy is NOT a =
glue! Glue is an
ADhesive substance; whereas Epoxy is a COhesive substance! Once you get =
that
clear in your ceribrum then using Epoxy is not all that
complicated.</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>Another item of major concern w/Epoxy: =
It has a
shelf life! The failure(s) talked about, do not mention that =
possibility, and
should. Epoxy is a good gap filler, with certain reservations. If =
"fillers" are
used, it is a better gap filler. If there is a minimal, "in line" crack =
on a
bridge, it can be "filled", but it is not as good a repair as "v"ing out =
the
crack and laying in a large quantity of Epoxy w/filler, (my preference =
is
"steel" Epoxy.) For "hair-line" cracks and to just snug up the pin in =
the bridge
cap, I prefer Clear Epoxy, ("2 Ton) and heat. This works very well =
and I've
been using this system for 30+ years! CA does not do well with anything =
that
will subject it to shear. Also, I've been cautioned, by those supposedly =
in the
know, that it breaks down with time. (I'll wait and see on =
this.<G>) It is
good for rejuvinating a bad pinblock. I've used it and it has been =
successful.
However, I am keeping a watchful eye on the long term results. I have
encountered a "botched" pinblock job, (done by someone else, of rather =
dubious
credentials), so all the answers are not in yet. West Systems is the =
best way to
go, IMHO. The variables they offer are pretty much endless and because =
of it's
popularity, it is almost always "fresh".</FONT></DIV>

<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>BTW, have I had failures with Epoxy? =
Yes! And, I've
made the effort to find out why, on each one, the failure occured. Most =
of the
failures were due to "human error"! But that's another =
story.</FONT></DIV>
