<HTML>Why not do it the old fashioned way on grands, and do a first class, and permanent job by replacing the old pin block, instead of all of the "chemical" treatments, which over time would sure be a failure. Any grand piano worthy of restoring for the next generation of owners MUST have a new pin block. Treating a pin block with Schaaf's pin tight is a waste of time and money. Vary rarely does it make a significant change in the torque. Of course, on uprights, the only option is to restring with over size tuning pins. Just my two cents on the topic.
