There are 2 things which cause the cable to come out of the pedal
slot:

1. The casting has a flaw so that the cable end is not fully engaged into
the pedal. Remove the pedal and turn it over, and clean up the
casting with a screwdriver or pointed file.

2. The players are messing around with the pedal, working it up and down
very quickly in a way that it was not intended. The muffler rail
flops around, and the cable goes slack, allowing it to pop out.

There is a small nylon plug that fits into the pedal just behind the wire
that will also help. These are frequently lost, and you can get
another one by contacting me at Kawai.

I'm looking for a solution for the practice pedal on a Kawai CS-21. The
cable keeps coming out of the pedal slot. Is the cable supposed to be
"locked in" somehow or should I be looking for a hidden recess
on the bottom of the pedal to accommodate the end of the cable?

Kawai seems to have many different "practice" systems. I wonder
if this is one which didn't quite work. The SN is 2193808.
