Hello Gordon !

The Apollo piano factory was began by
Melville Clark in 1901. The factory was in
DeKalb Ill. This Co. was bought by Wurlitzer
at some time in the Twenty's.
The Apollo was a much better built piano
than the Wurlitzer. The It was mostly built to be
used as a Grand piano for the Apollo Player
system. But many were sold as a straight pianos.

The scale M.C-3 a 5ft.3in. was by far their
their most popular piano. The bass had 13 single
and 13 doubles. They used the " Seaverns "
action. Most used the soft pedal to lift the hammer
rail and did not shift the action. It also used a lost
motion eliminator.
It is a well built Piano if it is a real Apollo.
Wurlitzer put this name of some Wurlitzer built
grands that used the "Thayer" actions. The
"Thayer" actions were much cheaper and so
was the Wurlitzer piano..

There are some 5ft. 3in. pianos that are higher
performing in sound than the Apollo but not that
many. It,s a good piano.

Hope this helps,
