<DIV>I had a nice chat with Lloyd Meyer, this A.M., he told me that it's =
been
going on for some time. The idea is to keep the pin from traveling out =
of the
Birds-eye. According to Lloyd, many manufacturers were consulted and =
they
thought it was a good idea. It is more expensive to do, so Renner is not =
about
to cease this.</DIV>
<DIV>As for the edges not being sharp....Yes they are! That's my main =
complaint,
as it does scrape felt. It makes one side looser than the other, =
(depending on
which ever side the pin is inserted.) Also, I'll bet that a bit of the =
wood is
scraped as well. I don't like this, but there isn't a damn thing that =
can be
done, for now. If it proves to be a problem, then they might rethink =
this. As it
stands, there have been no complaints, other then mine. So, there ya =
have
it....it's a wait and see thingee. Meanwhile, I'll be repinning ALL of =
the new
Renner parts I get, just to get rid of those darned things and put the =
proper
pin(s) in, IMO. More expense for my clients, but I don't like things =
coming back
to bite me in the butt. A weird thing...They only use them in the hammer =
flanges! Hmmm? I've been wondering, has anyone ever had a center pin =
work it's
way out of a hammer flange, on Renner parts? I haven't, but I do live in =
a mild
climate where the environment doesn't interact much with pianos, like =
other
places.</DIV>
