It is an aluminum tube with a hole drilled/punched in the side. A heavy piece of piano wire is inserted in the hole. The wire is bent about 150 degrees. The "tail" is inside the tube. Press a wooden dowel down the tube, full length to the bottom. This captures the wire in the tube/handle. On the bottom of the tube is a thick leather punching the diameter of the tube. Glue that to the dowel/tube. On the "business end" of the piano wire is a sharp bend, i.e. hook. This "hook" should be about 1/4" below the surface, when you put the wire parallel to the handle. </DIV> <DIV>The way you use this tool, is to rest the leather punching on an agraffe top. Insert the hook on the string to be "raised" and pry. Little effort is needed to accomplish a lot of deflection in the string. You can use this under the strings to lower the string,too, but I've not found that necessary.
