Hi RicB,

Kawai showed this at the Dallas PTG exhibit, and we had two models at
NAMM (VT-132 and VT-118). The system works with weighted levers
mounted to a moveable rail. The levers rest on a secondary capstan
on the keys, located in between the balance rail and the regular
capstan. By moving the rail in and out, you move the levers on top
of this secondary capstan, and thereby change the capstan's contact point
on the levers.

It's really very simple, and easy to service. The whole rail can be
removed and replaced when servicing the keyboard without changing the
regulation of the levers and their upstop rail.

I can supply a PDF service manual to anyone who wants one and has a good
internet connection speed. If you want it, write to me at the
office at dmannino@kawaius.com. I cannot send it from home, so
please do not reply to me at the address in this message.

I understand Kawaii has released a piano with adjustable touchweight.
Claims to be the worlds first upright with this capability.

Anyone come across one of these yet ?
