Ileen,

I service a 1991 UST-8 in the music room of a local elementary school.
It's worked out well although the case is not built as durably as the UST-7,
IMO. I couldn't keep it in tune until I installed a complete Dampp-Chaser
system, and now it's been doing fine, but I wouldn't necessarily hold that
against the piano. This school likes to tune all their pianos in
September, when the humidity is at its highest level in this area.

I think the final answer has to do with "what kind" of school situation.
In areas where it will receive reasonable care, I wouldn't be afraid of
it. In high school practice rooms, or if it's going to be moved frequently,
I would think twice. Others may have better advice.

Regards,

Has anyone had any experience with the Kawai 46" UST8 as far
as how they might hold up in a school situation? Thanks, Ileen Kaplan,
