<DIV><FONT face=Arial>I don't know that there would be any reason to =
put a dowel
through the panel and bridge - why would you do it? On a =
compression-crowned
board, a dowel is OK through the rib if you wish because you are not =
relying on
the rib to have the strength to support the crown - the rib only needs =
to be
strong enough to resist stretching by the panel. On the rib-crowned =
soundboard,
you don't want anything going through the rib because that would create =
a weak
spot on the rib - unless of course, the loss of strength was engineered
somehow into the plan.</FONT></DIV>

<DIV><FONT face=Arial>My method of attaching the bridges, modified =
after Del and
Ron N., is to simply run a bunch of sheet-rock screws through the panel =
from the
back into the bridge. I made up a bunch of large buttons (like 30 x =
60 mm)
that the screws go through first - that clamp the panel to the bridge =
real nice.
I get glue squeeze out all along the bridge base. Maybe its overkill -
whatever. I believe Del and Ron use regular little soundboard =
buttons and
leave the screws and buttons in place. I remove mine and plug the =
soundboard
back. Looks nice and clean. I just don't get along well with soundboard =
buttons.
I suppose if they are not there they will never buzz =
either.</FONT></DIV>
