considered
similar.However in the case of the piano we are trying to get two and =
three
strings to sing in sympathy. The wolf on your cello is there due =
somethimes to a
bad string, or more likely in your case becuase of an inbalance of the
tail, finger board, tail piece, neck, and head =
stock.
One or all may be the culprit. A few years back I had my upright worked =
on by a
bass specialest.</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>Spent two days watching him replace the =
fingerboard
with ebony and tap tap tapping and listening to the resonance of the =
above
areas. Then he would remove wood from the areas or add brass filled =
epoxy to get
the balance he wanted. Boy what a huge difference it made in the singing =
quality
of the instrument.</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>I view this work in the same light as =
voicing
hammers or perhaps belly work. No ordinary factory mass produced piano =
is made
with these ideas in mind, just get them made and out the =
door.</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>I think the same impedance issues may =
be involved
in pianos as well, as there are pianos that do not respond to pin =
tightening
methods or tapping to move the wear spot.</FONT></DIV>
