Doug, thanks for your answer - just what I needed. I don't know how many times I've glanced at that item and it just didn't register. It will mess up some of your hammer shank/whippen alignments, a little. The secret to an easier life is to buy (or make) a butt plate inserter tool. Don't know where I got mine, probably Schaff. Anybody have some to spare? Better ideas for repair?
