I would like to say 'hi' to all the great people I met in Wichita. Ed Sutton, formerly from down here in New Orleans, Mitch Kiel, Keith Mc., Stu from Topeka, all the great instructors, most of whom I only know from the articles they have written, and all the rest of you whom I had the pleasure to met. Many thanks to the Wichita chapter, especially Marty Hess whom I had the great pleasure of eating the seafood buffet across the street at Shoney's.     This was my very first PTG seminar, and I thought it was a truly great experience. I could easily have gone another week (well, maybe not). My biggest problem was having to decide between SO MANY great topics. I sat in on 3 hrs.of Kent Webb, 3 hrs of Don Mannino, 1 1/2 hrs.of David Stanwood, 1 1/2 hrs.of Tony Geers, 3 hrs.of Laroy Edwards, 1 1/2 hrs of Ken Swafford and 1 1/2 of Wally Brooks. Thanks to you all.    So now I have alot of questions. To start off with, help me with this one. In Laroy Edwards class on aftertouch there was a tech with him names Terry Niimi, a Japanese tech, apparently very highly trained. He, Terry, showed us how he prepares a piano with just an hour to go before a major concert. He mostly dealt with the aftertouch issue. He felt that letoff, key travel, and hammer travel were the main 3 that affected aftertouch. He was quick. He worked with just an octave. When the class was over, I went up and fiddled with the octave he regulated, and compared them with the untouched notes. There was a marked difference. I noticed however, that on a very soft (pp.) blow(!) that the hammers did not check well, they bobbled, but not enough to strike the string again, but just enough to feel them. I asked Terry how to fix them and He said that it was normal. Another tech asked Laroy and he said just about the same thing. I have had this problem, mostly on Yamaha's. I play piano a little and this bugs me. I am not happy with regulation jobs when this happens, yet, I suppose I shouldn't be if the Yamaha guys think it's normal. What say ye, oh men and women of the PTG.   I'm an assc. member and am studying for the test. I'm looking for someone who would be willing to help me via e-mail.
