<DIV><FONT size=3> I will say though initial filing of
hammers create a better sound when pointed up to a nicely
defined strike point. The the tone will improve & focus better if =
this
is done. If this has been done Then go to string mating then to&n=

fine paper( 320) & ironing . If you still need a bit more attack t=

Try some 10 to 1 lacquer & acetone right on top of the hammer =

balance the harmonic structure . Use only 4 to 6 drops & call=
it
good. I call this<U> break in fluid</U>. So muich of the sound we associate =
with
attack is caused by the very top 1 mm or so of felt right on top of the hamm=

so there is no need witht he Ronsen hammer in most case to hose it down with=

size=2>Dale,<BR>I didn't have time Friday to finish assessing the
problem. I'll be looking <BR>at hammer-string mating (string levelli=
ng
etc.), terminations, bridge pin <BR>seating (bridges weren't replaced),
dampers (overextended felt possible but <BR>didn't look like it) etc. =
; I
presumed cupping because several middle <BR>unisons are different then the=
outside unisons. Again, other possible <BR>issues have to be elimina=
ted
before going to hammer voicing. There is very <BR>good sustain in th=
e
high treble. I'm caught between tuning the attack <BR>phase or tunin=
g
the sustain because it is so long.<BR>By the way, the hanging job looks gr=
eat,
better alignment and travel then <BR>I've seen on some makes. Regula=
tion
much better than I've seen from some <BR>stores. The case is exquisi=
te
minus a gash thanks to the delivery <BR>guy. The plate is beautifull=
y
detailed etc. Decal on the soundboard looks <BR>original. Neat=
coils on the stringing job and so on. The customer and I <BR>are ver=
y
happy.<BR>The grunt work is done and now I'm busy dialing the piano in.&nb=

Can buy that <BR>too, I understand, but I've got to justify markup to myse=
