<HTML> <TT>John,</TT><TT></TT> <TT>Frank Hubbard's Harpsichord Regulating and Repairing which the Hubbard kits come with makes no mention of how far the becket should protrude, nor how many coils there should be. I built an instrument using the same kind of zither pins and put about 7 turns onto each with the beckets protruding far enough to keep the top coil in place, tightening the coils with a piano string lifter and driving them to set bearing afterwards. A couple of Hubbard employees have seen 'em and haven't said they were wrong, anyways.</TT><TT></TT> <TT>Hubbard is no longer using or supplying these zither pins, in part because they are shorter than traditional pins but mainly because of inconsistent sizing.
